Bio
Name: Saito Ayako. Age: 20-21. She was 17-18 in her third year when she went missing. Gender: Female. Dorm/School: Obelisk Blue. Before she disappeared, the Honor Dorm. Year: Third. Is repeating the year. Main deck: Lightlords. Side deck: Valkyries. Description: Ayako is 5'7'', taller than the Japanese average. She has orange hair that curls in the front and her hair goes to her mid-back. She wears the female Obelisk Blue uniform; blue and white, with a skirt, top and sleeveless jacket. Outside of the academy, she chooses an orange pair of pants and a white shirt in the military style. She has turquoise eyes. In short, her PB is Arisugawa Juri from Revolutionary Girl Utena. Personality: Ayako is not fond of socialization. She did not mingle in Junior High, and to this day finds the issue to be one of trust. This introvert doesn't want to reveal much about herself; only enough to be civil. She is thus enabled to keep her friendships and relations under control. It is not only a matter of trust but privacy. These feelings were compounded by her home life, where she studies and reads in solitude. When a person earns her trust, she opens up and becomes helpful, as she does not want to lose their friendship. She finds companionship through shared interests, and will talk on the subject and forge greater bonds with the person who shares them. When she falls out with a friend or loved one, she will deny her involvement and say it was ‘their fault’, finding flaws in the other person that allow her to shift blame. She finds it easy to cut off these ties due to such emotion. If you cross paths with her, you are ignored as she is prideful and regards people who offend her as being lower in status – another side of her denial. If you insult, bully or attack a loved one, she will take it upon herself to handle the matter. She generally tells the victim her intentions, and if the hurt is not great will respect their wish if they ask her to leave it be. Because she does not socialize easy, she attempts to maintain a layer of nobility. This lets her appear graceful and refined, and less likely to encounter criticism. History: Ayako was born in the Aoyama ward of Tokyo, a neighborhood with parks, a large cemetary, expensive housing and trendy cafes and restaurants. Her family has French blood, explaining her height, as several of her ancestors were French nationals who came to work in Japan’s financial market. Her father commutes to the Marunouchi district where he is a financial advisor. Her mother is a homemaker and took care of her till she started school. She attended the local Junior High and there picked up the game of Duel Monsters. It’s a national pastime, after all; as popular as baseball. She developed a love for the game and became passionate about pursuing a career. She was interested in the technical aspects: how duel disks operate, the materials the cards are made from. Thus she made a decision about her future career and looked to Kaiba Corp. This meant applying to Duel Academy, so she knuckled down and studied both academics and the game. She applied herself and scored high marks in the entrance exams and was offered a place in the Obelisk Girls Dorm. She met Yukio when they were both freshmen. They shared an interest in literature and eventually discovered each other’s hobby when they were seated together in class, the other seats full when she walked in. They noticed each other’s tastes, began talking, and decided to meet up again after school. The second year arrived and due to high grades and applicable talent they and others were selected for entry to the Honor Dorm. Because it had male and female students, the two lived under the same roof. They became closer and the two started dating when Yukio asked her out; he made the first move due to Japan being a male-dominated society. However, when he went missing after one of Daitokuji-sensei's duels, she knew something was not right and began to investigate his disappearance. Obviously, he no longer attended classes and she knew this to be abnormal. What furthered her suspicions was the fact she couldn’t find a reason; nobody knew anything. And the atmosphere in the honor dorm seemed cold each time the students mysteriously disappeared. The students who took part in Daitokuji’s experiments and were still around knew the missing were involved, but not talking due to the fact they knew what they were doing was illegal. They would have faced expulsion. She investigated further and found evidence Daitokuji was involved; Yukio’s schedule, the fact the missing didn’t return, and asking didn’t yield the information it should have. She went to Daitokuji himself and asked a series of questions, and he lied. Mentally unwilling to accept Yukio’s disappearance with no closure, she returned again and again, becoming more subtle, enough that Daitokuji considered her a problem and manipulated her into facing him with the promise of returning Yukio to her if she won. But he also said his status as a teacher, a trusted member of staff would win over her words if she complained to Samejima or anyone in authority. It was a private agreement, and he wanted to nip her behavior in the bud before it became a problem. He proved to be an opponent much too strong, and so she was silenced. She was defeated and pulled into the World of Darkness, only freed at the same time as the other returning students. She cannot remember her nightmare, but remembers what Daitokuji did as it predated her entry into the World of Darkness. Nor does she grasp she was away for four years. When she learns this, and that other missing people have returned, she believes Yukio is alive. Extra Abilities: She can see duel spirits and communicate with them. She is a practitioner in the art of Kendo, and is the captain of DA’s Kendo Club. World of Darkness Nightmare: She believes nobody cares about her – Yukio, her parents and the friends she made at school. They become belligerent and hostile, calling her a ‘failure’, ‘hopeless’, ‘a disappointment’. |
